In September 2025, Rwanda Diabetes Association (RDA) led two impactful initiatives aimed at improving care and support for people living with Type 1 Diabetes.
A training session was held in Kigali to enhance the capacity of health workers in managing Type 1 Diabetes across health facilities. The training focused on clinical best practices, early diagnosis, and patient-centered care — equipping providers with the tools needed to deliver consistent and quality services. This effort contributes to Rwanda’s broader goal of strengthening chronic disease management within the health system.
In parallel, young people living with Type 1 Diabetes came together for the Kigali City Camp 2025, a youth-centered gathering designed to promote education, peer support, and self-confidence. Through interactive sessions, group discussions, and shared experiences, participants deepened their understanding of diabetes management while building lasting friendships and support networks.
These activities reflect a growing commitment to holistic care — combining clinical training with community empowerment to ensure that individuals living with Type 1 Diabetes receive both medical support and social connection.
