As part of RNCDA’s continuous encouragement of mass sports across different regions of Rwanda, the alliance coordinated a vibrant Car Free Day in Rubavu District in September 2025. In partnership with Swiss TPH, RBC, and Rubavu District, the event mobilized over 4,000 participants for health screenings, fitness activities, and NCD awareness. Screenings for hypertension, diabetes, and heart conditions were conducted across 15 health facilities, while the community gathered for movement, music, and media engagement. With coverage from more than 20 media outlets and strong local leadership support, Rubavu CFD has become a model for regional health promotion. It also laid the groundwork for future school-based NCD campaigns and the upcoming Rusizi Car Free Day, planned for World Diabetes Day 2025.
