Rwanda NCD Alliance has initiated a regular capacity building webinar on a quarterly basis since March 29, 2022, to the member organizations, different organizations, and individuals to support them in daily activities concerning NCD awareness and advocacy.

Member organizations acknowledge the benefits of the webinar to boost their knowledge in various aspects and be the platform to share experiences. Importantly, we have realized that every member organization can have the knowledge and experience to share with others in the webinar with proper planning. The general objective is to build capacity and provide technical support for bolstering and sharpening the NCD knowledge and soft skills needed in their daily endeavors.

To kick off the implementation of the webinar plan 2022, we started with nutrition and NCDs awareness webinar with the topic “Dietary habits: A powerful tool for preventing NCDs.

The webinar took place on the 29th of March, 2022, from 04:00 PM to 05:00 PM, and started with the Capacity Development Officer of Rwanda NCDA, who welcomed 35 participants and appreciated their participation. He added that Rwanda NCDA organized this specific webinar to ensure every participant understands the benefits of dietary habits for preventing NCDs and unhealthy diets as one of the main NCD risk factors.

Our trainer was Private KAMANZI – Nutritionist Consultant/Executive Director of Health Relief and Development Organization (HRDO), and he provided us with an exceptional opportunity to learn about the benefits of healthy diets in the prevention and control of NCDs, as well as to lead by example/experience by simply teaching what we do. All participants were equipped with nutrition knowledge, dos and don’ts in relation to NCDs and real-life examples and experience to consider. He concluded by answering different questions from participants.

The next webinar is scheduled for the end of June 2022, and more details will follow to keep you posted with plans.
